Since 2001, the Leadership Geauga Emerald Leader Award has honored visionary and dedicated community leaders whose extraordinary work has enhanced the quality of life in Geauga County. These individuals and organizations have generously given their time and talents to promote a stronger community and have significantly shaped Geauga County.

This award is presented to an individual, business, and/or nonprofit agency that demonstrates outstanding leadership by contributions through volunteerism, philanthropy, or innovation. Nominees must reside in Geauga County to be considered and do not have to be associated with Leadership Geauga. Those with a political position are not eligible for the Emerald Leader award.

Nominations should demonstrate any combination of the following:

  • Active volunteer participation in community, professional, and/or service organizations
  • Contributed resources (time, talents, material) to community, professional, and/or service organizations
  • Engaged in a special act of service that impacted the community
  • Created or supported an innovative program, system, or facility that benefits and enhances Geauga County
  • Served the community in a capacity well beyond job requirements
  • Fostered positive community relationships
  • Enhanced or supported community improvements
  • Introduced or implemented innovations in the community
