The Emerald Ball
Night at the Races
Taste of Geauga
The Emerald Ball is Leadership Geauga County's signature fundraising event. In addition
to music, fun and great food, this event features silent, live and Chinese auctions. Proceeds from the Emerald
Ball help to underwrite the cost of the program and employees' salaries.
This year's event will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Sun Valley Party Center in Aurora.

Individual and corporate tickets are available. Ticket pricing and other information is enclosed with the invitation.
Invitations are mailed in early January, Anyone interested in attending may request being added to the invitation

In 2001, The Emerald Ball Committee launched the Emerald Leader Award. This award
is presented annually to an individual who exemplifies outstanding leadership by positive contributions through
volunteerism, philanthropy, or innovation that impact the quality of life in Geauga County, Our Emerald Leader
Award recipients are:
* 2001 - Mr. Jeff Keener of the Chardon Rubber Company
* 2002 - Mr. Bill Prior of Kinetico Incorporated
* 2003 - Mr. Gordon Safan of Red Maple Inn
* 2004 - Sr. Sandy Nativio, Principal, Chardon St. Mary's Elementary School
* 2005 - Alice Sems, Leadership Gaeuga Executive Director Emeritus
* 2006 - Dick Moss and The Junction Auto Family
* 2007 - Howard Bates and The Burton Middlefield Rotary Club
 
* 2008 - Deborah O'Connor and Richard Frenchie

Admission: $25 per person
 6:00PM: Doors open at the Bond
Building in Century Village, Burton
6:30PM: All-you-can-eat buffet
7:30PM: Post time for first of
ten races
BYOB (bring your own beverage,
soft drinks will be supplied)
Beer will be available
Purchase and name your very own racehorse for only $20!*
Hurry! Only 90 horses are available
for pre-race purchase.
Horses for the tenth race will be
sold at auction the night of the races.
*If your horse is the winner in its race, you win a fabulous trophy and fifty
bucks!
